Playing PC games right from the comfort of your Mercedes-Benz driver’s seat will soon be possible, thanks to a new groundbreaking partnership between Mercedes-Benz and Boosteroid. You read that right: you can play games from your car. Who needs a PC anyway?
Boosteroid, a titan in the cloud gaming platform arena, will allow you to enjoy high-end video games on your PCs and phones and in your own Mercedes-Benz. It seems like capability years in the making, and the truth is, it has been.
Earlier in 2023, Microsoft and Boosteroid shook hands on a deal that was nothing short of a game-changer, bringing PC games to the cloud gaming platform. This meant that Boosteroid members got the keys to a kingdom filled with games purchased through Steam or the Epic Games Store. And if that wasn’t enough, Microsoft supported select games bought through the Microsoft Store or available with a Game Pass membership. Imagine having access to titles like Deathloop, Dishonored, and Gears 5, complete with cross-play and cross-save features, all in your car.
Mercedes-Benz didn’t miss a beat andannouncedits partnership with Boosteroid, aiming to integrate this gaming paradise into itsMBUX infotainment system. Starting next year, if you’re behind the wheel of a Mercedes equipped with the third-generation MBUX system, you’ll have over 1,000 high-quality titles, including Fortnite and Sea of Thieves.
And the best part? This is just the beginning. With Microsoft promising to add more hits to Boosteroid, the list of available PC titles in Mercedes-Benz cars will only grow. Other big names like the Epic Games Store and Ubisoft are on the list, too.
Can you play video games in a car when driving?
No. Gaming is only available for those worried about safety when the vehicle is parked. Connecting the Bluetooth gaming controller or mobile phone is quite easy, and Mercedes offered a sneak peek at this year’s Gamescom.
So, what does this mean for the future of in-car entertainment? With Boosteroid by its side, Mercedes-Benz is steering towards a future where gaming and driving (well, parking) go hand in hand.
Can you play video games in a car? Right now, no. But by 2025, you’ll be able to do so.
In other news, at Gamescom 2024, NVIDIA and Xbox announced a new partnership that will allowXbox users to connect their accounts to GeForce Now.
