It’s impossible to escape the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic, with seemingly larger and larger parts of everyday life being restricted to try and curb its spread. That, of course, stretches to big events, with the likes of MWC, GDC, Build and E3 already called off this year. For gamers, the focus has begun to shift to August’s Gamescom in Cologne, Germany,

Cologne, like many areas of Germany, has begun restricting movement and gatherings of people as part of its efforts to contain the spread, but currently, Gamescom is scheduled to go ahead as planned as it’s outside the current restrictions.

With around 370,000 people attending Gamescom every year, it’s one of the biggest events anywhere in Europe so naturally, caution will be exercised. Currently, it’s set to begin on August 25. Should it be cancelled or postponed, the organisers have already confirmed that ticket purchases will be fully reimbursed.
