What you need to know
At X019, Obsidian Entertainment — now a part of Xbox Game Studios — revealedGrounded, a survival game in the vein of “Honey I Shrunk the Kids.” This title reduces you to the size of an ant, with a single-player story and support for up to four-player co-op. After the Inside Xbox show that took place last week, the developers gave us an in-depth look at the game.
You can check out over 20 minutes of memorable footage below. The video shows the single-player mode so you get the sense that you can conquer all challenges on your own.
Grounded is expected to launch in Xbox Game Preview on July 28. However, it’s unclear if it’s going to be delayed due to the coronavirus outbreak. Since it’s an Xbox Game Preview title, it can launch is a somewhat unfinished state. That gives us hope that it’ll make it on July 28.
If you’re worried about the spiders in the game, don’t be. There’s going to be an Arachnophobia Mode that reduces how scary they are, though we don’t know the exact details yet. Like with all Xbox Game Studios titles, Grounded is included in Xbox Game Pass for console and PC.
