Things to Check Before Mirroring iPhone to TV
Introduced in 2010 as part of iOS 4,AirPlayinitially allowed users to stream audio, photos, and videos via an Apple TV device. However, in 2018, Apple allowed TV and speaker manufacturers to incorporate the technology with the launch of AirPlay 2.
Today, most modern TVs from leading manufacturers including Samsung, LG, and VIZIO (2018 or later) come equipped with AirPlay 2 support, allowing users to mirror their iPhone or iPad display to a smart TV without having to rely on any other device. But, you do have to check whether your TV and iPhone are AirPlay 2 compatible. Here’s how:
Make Sure Your TV is AirPlay 2 Compatible
To find out whether or not your TV is compatible, check out the AirPlay icon on your TV. Besides, you can alsohead over to Apple’s Home accessories web pageand head into the TV section to know if your TV supports Apple’s wireless streaming protocol.

Mirror Your iPhone and iPad to a TV With AirPlay
This is the easiest and most fluid way of mirroring your iPhone to a TV. To do so:
Anything that you do on your iOS device will be mirrored on the television. Notably, flipping the iOS device from portrait to landscape mode will let you view videos by using up the entire TV screen.
Mirror Your iPhone to TV Without AirPlay
What if your TV is not AirPlay-2 compatible? Don’t worry, you can still mirror your iOS device to an unsupported TV thanks to a streaming device like Chromecast and Roku. However, do note that while Roku supports AirPlay, Chromecast doesn’t. So, to mirror your iPhone to a Chromecast device, you will need the Google Home app on your iPhone.
Sadly, all the applications that we have come across during our testing require a paid tier to mirror your iPhone to a TV. But, DoCast (Download) is one free application that you can try. But, it only allows 15 minutes of free time to mirror the iPhone. While the screen mirroring was not as seamless as with an AirPlay TV, it still works well enough.

Otherwise, you can take the wired way out and simply make use of a Lightning to HDMI or Type-C to HDMI adapter and connect it to your TV. Then, after simply setting the right HDMI input source on your TV, your iPhone will instantly start mirroring.
