Microsoft Edge offically deprecates CryptoWallet with 129 public on the Stable Channel

Microsoft has released Edge 129 to the Stable channel, introducing several changes to the browser. As you might already know, Crypto Wallet, a feature that lets you manage cryptocurrency within the browser, is deprecated. Microsoft said the change is intended to “improve the end-user experience” without elaborating and has been teasing itin the Insider channels for quite a while.

Deprecation of the CryptoWallet feature.To improve end user experience, the CryptoWallet feature and theCryptoWalletEnabledpolicy is deprecated. TheCryptoWalletEnabledpolicy will be obsolete in an upcoming release.

Microsoft has also updated the minimum system requirements for Edge on macOS. In the future, the company will drop support for macOS versions older than 11.0, which was first introduced in 2020. “For more information, see Microsoft Edge Supported Operating Systems,” the notes say.

Edge 129 also includes several new web developer-focused features, including the deprecation of non-standard declarative shadow DOM serialization and the includeShadowRoots attribute for the DOMParser interface. You can read about the changes more thoroughly in the MDN Web Docs post here.

The update patches three vulnerabilities, two of which allow for remote code execution and one of which is a spoofing bug. If it hasn’t already, you should expect to see Edge 129 hit the stable channel soon.

While Edge 129 is now generally available, Microsoft also pushed Edge 128 to the Extended Stable channel, bringing it to enterprise customers.
