Microsoft Teams, the popular workplace communication platform, is introducing a new chat and channel experience. The new experience, which will be available in a public preview in November, is designed to be simpler by default. It integrates chat and channels to bring them to the forefront without overwhelming users who might not need all that information.

At launch, a self-service, guided onboarding flow will help users discover and configure the new experience to their preferences. In contrast, new filters and views make it easier to focus on what’s important.

In a blog post, Jeff Teper, Microsoft’s corporate vice president for Microsoft 365, said that the new Teams experience also aims to empower users to organize their digital workspace in a way that makes sense to them.

For instance, users can create custom sections to bring conversations around a specific project or topic and use controls to display channels in a single list.

The new chat and channel experience will be available to customers in a limited capacity in November and will roll out more broadly in early 2025.

The platform recently introduceda unified experience, bringing personal and professional accounts together. It also enhanced many of its capabilities, including the usefulWork and Location settingswith a new Buildings option.

The Redmond-based tech giant also made the platform easier to update, and itwill do so only when the device is idle.

Along with the new chat and channel experiences, Microsoft Teams is set to become more intuitive and easier to use.
