Microsoft will add yet another role in the 365 admin center, the AI administrator. As the name suggests, this role will deal with everything AI, from managing Copilot to checking the usage reports for the AI model.

The Redmond-based tech giant says the new AI administrator in the 365 admin center won’t have the other privileges of the Global admin permissions, and Microsoft almost describes it as a perk.

And for good reason, though. Admins worldwide arecomplaining that Microsoft is adding too many new capabilitiesand roles to the 365 Admin Center that they can’t keep up with. The good thing is that Microsoft wants you to know that as an AI administrator, you’ll only manage Copilot activity within your organization.

Here’swhat the entry says:

We are introducing a new admin role for AI and Microsoft Copilot administration. Admin users assigned with the AI Administrator role can efficiently manage Microsoft Copilot without the vast privileges of Global admin permissions.

The new AI administrator will be added to the 365 Center in November 2024.

What’s your take on this? Are you ready for a new role?
