The Microsoft 365 admin center will be updated to support a new section focusing on usage reports for the New Outlook for Windows.
Similar to the other reports added recently—such as the one for Copilot usage—the usage reports for the New Outlook for Windows will include a variety of usage metrics for the platform, including those focused on the number of active users who made the transition from the classic Outlook for Windows to the new Outlook for Windows.
Here’swhat the entry says:
The Microsoft 365 apps usage report will include usage metrics for the new Outlook for Windows. This feature allows organizations to monitor the adoption and usage of the new Outlook for Windows client within their organization. The report provides detailed metrics on the number of active users who have transitioned from Outlook for Windows (classic) to the new Outlook for Windows.
The Redmond-based tech giant has been keen on providing organizations with all the tools they need to investigate, analyze, and build plans of action regarding certain tools. When Copilot was first announced within the Microsoft 365 Suite, the company provided its customers with a usage reports section for the AI tool to better understand what’s going on and which departments use Copilot the most.
This report would be no different. Even thoughthe new Outlook for Windowshas been released and is available to customers, many organizations are still using the classic version of the app. Microsoft had to act accordingly:it added Copilotand many more features that greatly modernized the platform.
However, the new report would also be a nightmare for admins, many of whomare already fed up with Microsoft’s constant updating of the 365 Admin Center. Back in September, we reported how dozens of admins gathered on Reddit to rant (and justifiably so) about not being able to properly keep up with the updates.
Fortunately, it will still be some time before it arrives, as Microsoft plans to add this new section to the admin center in March 2025.
What’s one more (not so) tiny section?
What’s your take on this?
