The Redmond-based tech giant is set to enable OSCI (as part of the EnableAllOcsiClients policy) for OneDrive tenants, which will ensure that the platform is perfectly synchronized with the Office suite.

In a recent entry to the Microsoft 365 Roadmap, the tech giant says tenants can disable the GPO policy, which includes OSCI. However, doing so makes it difficult to keep all internal versions of the Office files up to date.

However, with the new option, OneDrive tenants can turn the OSCI on, and features such as autosave, version history, real-time user collab, and even merging in the case of conflict can work with Office.

Here’swhat the entrysays:

If a tenant has the (EnableAllOcsiClients) GPO enabled, Office and OneDrive are able to communicate smoothly. Right now, tenants have the option to disable the GPO, and when they disable the GPO, it becomes difficult to ensure that all internal versions of Office files are kept up to date so that features like autosave, version history, real time user collab, and merging in the case of conflicts can work.

However, this will not happen right away.According to the entry, the new policy will be released in April 2025, which would giveadmins more than enough time to get used to it.
