We all know the drill. Creepers strike at the worst possible moments inMinecraft, ruining your just-completed house or, even worse, killing your poor defenseless pets. They’re the best possible worst enemy ever, and they’re back inMinecraft Dungeons. They’re a little more useful and a little easier to deal with this time around, but their signatureboomis still present. Here’s how to fight and defeat them in Minecraft Dungeons, and even how you can use them to your advantage:
How can I fight and defeat creepers in Minecraft Dungeons?
Creepers have one avenue of attack they can use against you: charge at you, hiss, then explode, all in a matter of seconds. It’s the same strategy they employ in vanilla Minecraft, but this time Dungeons' helpful third-person view lets you keep track of creepers a lot more easily. Creepers aren’t able to do anything from a distance, so the best counter-attack is to simply stay away from them.
Here’s the best way to fight creepers in Minecraft Dungeons:
How can I use creepers in Minecraft Dungeons?
If simply defeating the creepers isn’t enough for you, there’s a way to use them to your advantage. A little known secret of Minecraft Dungeons: creeper explosions actually damage nearby enemies! Of course, they also damage you, so the perfect compromise would be a creeper explosion that only affects the other hostile mobs. Here’s how you can use creepers in battle:
Minecraft Dungeons features a dodge mechanic, or a dash if you will. This is assigned to theright bumper, or RB, of controllers, and is awesome for evading the brutal onslaught of powerful enemies or accessing new parts of the map. It has another function, though, and that’s getting out of the way of creeper explosions. If you’re confident enough in your abilities, a well-timed dodge can carry you to safety and leave your enemies behind, just in time to be caught in a creeper blast.
It’s a risky maneuver, but if you’re able to master this simply-but-tricky tactic, creepers can go from being enemies to a free bomb you can drop on your foes whenever you want. Practicing this in early levels before the game gets too hectic is a great way to perfect it, and then the creepers are working for you.
Use your opponent’s strength against them
Creepers will never stop being annoying. Years of playing Minecraft, and creepers have more kills on me and damage to my property than any other mob (skeletons get an honorable mention). If Minecraft had some kind of law system, the list of charges for creepers would be miles long. In Dungeons, things are a little different. The expanded view, a vast arsenal of weapons, and the ability to use creepers against the baddies makes them an easier pill to swallow. They’re still not my friends, though.
