Dragon’s Lair is a an arcade game that first released back in 1983 with a simple premise. Players control Dirk the Daring, a knight attempting to rescue Princess Daphne from the dragon Singe and wizard Mordroc. According to an exclusive report fromThe Hollywood Reporter(THR), Netflix has closed a deal to create a live-action adaption of this game, with negotiations for the work to star Ryan Reynolds.

Reynolds is an accomplished actor well known for starring in films like Deadpool. Reynolds will also help produce Dragon’s Lair, alongside Roy Lee and Trevor Engelson. Per THR, Netflix has obtained the rights for an adaption to the game after almost a year of talks. Brothers Dan and Kevin Hageman, who wrote The Lego Movie, will be writing the script for Dragon’s Lair.

Netflix has adapted other video games into new properties, with an animated Castlevania show and a live-action series for The Witcher, as well as an upcomingWitcher anime film. We’ll have to wait and see exactly what form this Dragon’s Lair project takes.
