Overwatch’s next hero Echo has officially been announced

Blizzard Entertainment announced the next hero for Overwatch is Echo, a character that has been seen in both theanimated short “Reunion"as well as the"Zero Hour” shortforOverwatch 2. The character’s status as a new hero was revealed as part of abrand new origin storyfor Echo that details who she is and how she came to be.
Based on the video, it appears that Echo is an artifical intelligence construct that was created from the mind of Dr. Mina Liao, one of the six founding members of the Overwatch organization and one of the people who helped create the omnics. It will be interesting to see how this character fits into the larger Overwatch story, as well as how she will impact the game itself when she goes live in the game. As of now, it’s expected that Echo will be playable on March 23 based ona recent hint by Blizzard.
