What you need to know
Ubisoft has announced the imminent rollout of patch Y5S1.1 for Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege, the first mid-season update expanding uponOperation Void Edge. With two weeks since the game’s Year 5 kick-off, introducing new Operators Oryx and Iana, we’re now receiving a minor update on track for March 24.
The Y5S1.1 Patch firstly introduces formal Open Broadcaster Software (OBS) compatibility with Vulkan, the secondary graphics API for PC players, optimizing rendering for performance benefits. Following its live server debut earlier this year, Ubisoft has released the update with consideration for the open-source project, popular among content creators and streamers.
Rainbow Six Siege also receives a helping of bug fixes, alleviating common issues with the initial Void Edge release. Those include changes to gameplay, Operators, level design, and overall user experience, amending rough edges players may encounter. Y5S1.1 doesn’t feature any gameplay balancing changes affecting Operators or weaponry.
Ubisoft has detailed its imminent Y5S1.1 release, with staged availability across a three-hour window. Each platform will experience an estimated 20 minutes of downtime. Full patch notes follow, as provided by Ubisoft.
