Microsoft has revealed its plans to launch the first expansion pack, called Immortal Pillars,for Age of Mythology: Retold, the recent fantasy real-time strategy (RTS) remake.

Microsoft announced these plansduring a live stream event during the Xbox Tokyo Game Show 2024. The first expansion is called Immortal Pillars.This expansion will introduce a new Chinese-themed pantheon to the game, giving players on PC and Xbox Series X|S access to a collection of new gods, myth units, and godpowers to playwith.

Ina blog post over on Xbox Wire, Microsoft shared more details about what’s coming inImmortal Pillars:

This new expansion will bring the myths and majesty of China to life with an all-new pantheon of gods, myth units, god powers, and a brand new compelling campaign inspired by the stories of Chinese mythology. Age of Mythology: Retold fans can earn the favor of 12 new gods, including Nüwa, goddess of creation, Chiyou, bull-headed god of war, and Nüba, restless goddess of drought. Not to mention summoning all-new god powers, including the mighty Yinglong, the flying rain dragon of Chinese mythology.

Microsoft has yet to announce when Immortal Pillars will be available for purchase. However, the expansion will be free to download for anyone who purchases the Age of Mythology: Retold premium edition for $49.99.

The expansion will also be availablefor $24.99 as part of an upgrade to the premium edition for standardAge of Mythology: Retoldowners.

At the same time, Microsoft is also planning a second expansion for Age of Mythology: Retold,which will be sold separately. The publisher has not said anything about what this expansion will include or when it will be released.
