What you need to know
The Surge 2is a third-person action game along the lines of Dark Souls. While the title may have its quirks, it’s a lot of fun once you understand the combat. If you want to get back into the game, you’ll be delighted to know that there’s new downloadable content (DLC) dropping on January 16.
The Surge 2’s official Twitter account added, “The Surge 2’s Kraken DLC comes to Xbox on January 16 – explore the mysteries behind a beached military vessel and discover a brand-new storyline with new weapons and enemies! Get your Season Pass and an exclusive 48 hours early access.”

It’ll be interesting to see what sort of environment the ship will offer. Hopefully, it won’t be narrow corridors like the original The Surge. However, only time will tell. In Windows Central’sreview, I wrote, “Despite this critique, the addition of deeper role-playing mechanics like choices and unpredictable campaign characters elevates The Surge 2 as a whole, alongside a huge variety of complex enemies that we shan’t spoil. I was expecting the combat to see the greatest tweaks, but that doesn’t appear to be the case.”
There’s a lot to love about this game
The Surge 2 is a Dark Souls-like experience where you battle ferocious mechanical beasts in a post-apocalyptic city where everyone wants you dead.
