Microsoft is moving features from the Xbox Game Pass mobile app into the main Xbox app, streamlining the experience. This week, Xbox beta members are getting access to the updated mobile app, with a full rollout coming soon.

Microsoft is also killing off the Xbox Game Pass app entirely, with downloads disabled in November.

Several Xbox Game Pass features are coming to the Xbox app on mobile, including the ability to browse the entire Game Pass catalogue, manage your membership and view and claim Game Pass Ultimate Perks.

In a blog post, Microsoft says you can stream select games through Xbox Cloud Gaming on iOS or Android using a supported browser, check your achievements and game stats, compare your progress with friends, and install games on your console remotely. You can continue to use the Xbox app’s features to stay connected with friends and the latest gaming news, receive notifications for game updates, and more.

Game Bar Compact Mode, which optimizes the Game Bar interface for smaller screens and Windows handheld devices, is now available to all PC players on Windows. The mode lets users quickly access recently played games, standard game launchers, other gaming utilities, and the Widget Store, a widget marketplace.

The Xbox app has several features that should make it easier to manage your game library. For example, the app now lets you view and install all add-ons related to a game you’re installing, regardless of when you acquired them or if they were part of the same bundle. It’ll display all of the game’s content in one place.

The Xbox Series X and S will soon let users pre-download game updates so they can start playing right when they go live. Currently supported by a small number of games, including Sea of Thieves and Minecraft, the feature will expand to more titles in the future.

Microsoft is also making the Xbox app’s wish list more useful with notifications. Users can now enable wish list notifications when a game on their list is released, they enter the Game Pass library, or they become available as part of a Free Play Days promotion.
