The Windows 11 24H2 release date was first hinted at as October 8 in anow-modified blog postfrom Microsoft, but the Redmond-based tech giant has shelved it for another date in October.
The blog now reads:
The shift to the Microsoft 365 app as the entry point for Microsoft Copilot is coming soon. Changes will be rolled out to managed PCs starting with the optional non-security preview release on September 24, 2024, and following with the monthly security update release on October 8 for all supported versions of Windows 11. These changes will be applied to Windows 10 PCs the month after. This update is replacing the current Copilot in Windows experience
After the press picked it up as the official release date for Windows 11 24H2, Microsoft added a statement to the blog saying:
Editor’s note 9.18.2024 – The dates conveyed below are for our regular monthly servicing updates for supported versions of Windows 11 and unrelated to when Windows 11, version 24H2 will be generally available.
Some speculated that Microsoft wouldn’t release the next Windows version this year (yes, reportedly Windows 12) and would instead focus on the next major Windows 11 patch, which now we know will be 24H2.
When will it be released? October, most likely. Windows 11 24H2, also known as the Windows 2024 update, has many new features, froman updated Quick Settingsto reimaginingCopilot for Windows.
