Microsoft has just rolled out a new build for Windows 11, specifically for those Copilot+ PC users in the Windows Insider Program’s Release Preview channel. The build number is 26100.1586, and it’s tagged under KB504186.
First off, the update includes a tweak to the FrameShutdownDelay. This means the browser will no longer heed the value in the “HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main” registry key. This tweak will make your browsing experience smoother and more reliable.
KB5041865 also fixes a deadlock issue in the Domain Name System (DNS) that could occur when a domain controller starts up. This is crucial for ensuring your device can connect to the internet without hiccups.
For those who like to keep their systems secure (and who doesn’t?), this update introduces a prompt that asks for confirmation when turning on OpenSSH using the Server Manager UI. It’s a small step but adds an extra layer of security by ensuring that OpenSSH isn’t enabled without your knowledge.
Microsoft has been on a roll with Windows 11 24H2 updates lately. They released a Safe OS Dynamic Update earlier in August to improve the Windows recovery environment. Another update, underKB5041178, focused on enhancing Windows setup binaries for feature updates in Windows 11, version 24H2. And let’s not forget the update underKB5040529, which introduced many new features, including Emoji 15.1 support and a new account manager for the Start menu.
