In a blog post, the Redmond-based tech giant says this is a game-changer for those who love diving into their favorite titles with a controller, as the new Compact Mode offers a more streamlined navigation just a few clicks away.

For those eager to try out Compact Mode, it’s as simple as hitting the Win + G shortcut, diving into the Settings widget, and flipping the switch under the General section. Microsoft says handheld PC gamers might find it handy to remap this shortcut to a physical button or pin it to the taskbar for easier access.

Once Compact Mode is activated, the clutter disappears, leaving you with a simplified interface where everything you need is at your fingertips. Whether you’re looking to jump back into a recently played game or launch a new adventure from your favorite game launcher, Compact Mode has got you covered. And when you need to exit a game quickly, it’s now possible to do so directly from the Game Bar, saving you the hassle of navigating multiple menus.
