If you don’t have permission to open certain emails, mailboxes and folders in Outlook, you can soon see it directly in the platform. According to a recent entry in the Microsoft 365 Roadmap, the new Outlook for Windows and Web will grant mail delegate sharing permissions directly from the platform.
Users can view mailboxes and folders by granting delegate access from the new Outlook app.

Microsoft doesn’t specify where this permission will appear, but the new capability is set to be released in July 2025, and the Redmond-based tech giant will most likely release blog posts about it.
Either way, this new enhancement is surely set to make admins’ jobs a bit easier while also ensuring that no confidential email or information ever gets out to the wrong employees.
As mentioned, the Redmond-based tech giant says the new capability will only be released next year.
In other news related to this new capability, the new Outlook for Windows and Webwill no longer let people share folders with specific users, which the company says will make the platform safer.
